Every day, people die of starvation. Parents die orphaning their children. Even worse for the parents is holding their children in their arms watching them take their last breath. Millions in the world are affected by famine.

It does not take much to help improve people's lives.

We lead such busy lives in Canada that we often forget how fortunate we are and how others in the world face tremendous adversity. Can you imagine going to bed hungry every day? How about eating a few grains of rice for dinner? It saddens me that so much suffering is occurring in the world.

That is why I have decided to take on this task of cycling from Vancouver, B.C. to St. John's, Newfoundland in an attempt to raise money and awareness for those in the world faced with famine. I leave with no money and I rely solely on the goodness and generosity of my fellow Canadians for the basic needs of food and shelter. Norman Vincent Peale once said that pockets never healed anyone back; only empty heads and empty hearts can do that. I hope that my cause will influence you to take action and remember that a donation of any amount will make a world of a difference.

Thank you for your support.
